Description
Mycologists developed our top-selling organic sterilised grain spawn bag to maximise the rate and size of your mushroom growth. Each spawn bag contains our special blend of organic, nutrient-rich, hydrated millet and wheat berries. The bags also have a self-healing injection port for use with spore or culture syringes and a 0.2 micron filter patch to prevent airborne contamination while ensuring uniform gas exchange. Note: The colour of the injection port may change.
Mushroom production uses a specific kind of commodity called organic sterilised grain spawn bags. The bags are loaded with sterilised grain, like rye or wheat, that has been injected with mushroom spores or mycelium. The bags are then sealed and used as a substrate for mushroom cultivation.
The number of bags in the product is indicated by the term “8-pack.” This means that you would receive eight bags of sterilised grain that might be used to grow mushrooms.
A simple and effective method of growing mushrooms at home is to use sterilised grain spawn sacks. The bags give the mushrooms a clean environment in which to grow, assisting in the prevention of contamination and ensuring a robust crop. The bags are also simple to use and require little upkeep, making them a fantastic choice for beginners or those with a limited amount of time or space.
Prior to making any purchases, make sure to research the precise needs for the sort of mushrooms you plan to cultivate because different species of mushrooms have varied growing requirements and substrates.
Colonization
Place your bag where it will have a cool, shaded environment to colonise. Incubation temperatures shouldn’t rise over 75 degrees Fahrenheit or fall below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Mycelium should begin to sprout on the grain after a few weeks.
The whitish mycelium will be seen spreading from the injection site. Without opening the bag, carefully break up the colonised grain and combine it with the uncolonized grain once it has expanded to a height of three to four inches. This will hasten the colonisation process considerably.
Storing
Store grain bags away from direct sunlight at room temperature. Refrigeration is not required. They can also be kept in storage for a while before being used.
