We got tired of dead spores
Most people's first attempt at growing mushrooms fails for a reason that has nothing to do with them. A spore syringe is a genetic lottery — thousands of unselected individuals racing each other, some vigorous, most not. Contamination gets in during the wait. Six weeks later there is a jar of something grey on a shelf and a person who has decided mushroom growing is not for them.
GroSpore exists because that failure is avoidable. Every culture we ship comes from an isolate we selected and tested ourselves: one organism, known behaviour, known speed. You are not gambling on genetics. You are growing a strain that has already proven it fruits well.
How we work
The lab
Cultures are produced in a certified ISO 7 cleanroom under laminar flow. Nutrient solution is pressure-sterilised, filled, and sealed in the same controlled space, so nothing between the autoclave and the sealed syringe touches open air.
The testing
Every batch is incubated and inspected before it can be sold, and samples go to an independent laboratory for contamination screening. A batch that shows anything unexpected is destroyed rather than discounted. This is the slow, unglamorous part of the business and it is the reason our cultures behave the same way twice.
The strains
We keep a working library of isolates for each species and re-select periodically, because a culture propagated indefinitely loses vigour. What you receive is a low-transfer culture from a maintained master, not the twentieth generation of something cloned in a garage.
What we sell
- Grow kits — a fully colonised block, the right substrate for the species, and a printed guide. Open the box, mist it daily, harvest in about two weeks. Most kits give a second flush after the first.
- Liquid cultures — live mycelium in sterile nutrient solution, in a 10 ml syringe with a needle, ready to inject into your own grain or bags.
- Substrate and supplies — pressure-sterilised grain, hardwood and manure-based bulk substrate, and all-in-one bags with injection ports, so you can inoculate without owning a pressure cooker.
- Functional species — lion's mane and reishi, for growers who want to know exactly what species they have and exactly what went into it.

We work exclusively with edible and functional fungi — oysters, shiitake, chestnut, beech, king oyster, lion's mane, reishi. We do not produce, sell, or advise on psilocybin-containing species. See our disclaimer for the full statement.
If it does not work
Tell us. Send a photograph and a few details about your conditions and we will diagnose it — usually the same day. If a culture or kit arrives dead, damaged, or contaminated, we replace it, no argument. If the problem happened in your grow room, we will still tell you exactly what went wrong so the next one works. The whole point is that you end up with mushrooms.
